You are invited you to a showing of Sugarcane at Thomas’ Theaters in Marquette coming up Saturday, May 10th. It is an extraordinary film sharing experiences of boarding school survivors in Canada.
Sugarcane is an important new documentary film about the trauma individuals, families, and communities experience due to Indigenous/Native American residential/boarding schools. It will be shown in Marquette on Saturday, May 10 (1:00 pm at Marquette Cinemas), and in Sault Ste Marie on Monday, May 12 (5:30 pm at DreamMakers Theatre at Kewadin Casino). Please attend one of these showings if you can and spread the word among your congregations, families, and friends. Each showing will be free and followed by facilitated conversation to address the very challenging information presented. The topic is difficult and this film is rated R, so this is for adults and older youth with support of parents or guardians. Please register if you plan to attend the Marquette showing, to help us make sure we have enough space (no preregistration is needed for the Sault Ste Marie showing).
